Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce Applauds Failed Vote on Rules 1111 and 1121
YORBA LINDA, CA: Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its support for the failed vote on Rules 1111 and 1121 by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), which would have imposed stringent, burdensome regulations on small businesses and working families. In a major victory for local commerce and economic well-being, these proposed rules were not passed, thanks in large part to the tireless advocacy of community leaders such as Yorba Linda Councilman Carlos Rodriguez.
Rules 1111 and 1121, which were under consideration by the AQMD, would have placed severe restrictions on businesses, particularly those in manufacturing, transportation, and other essential sectors that drive the local economy. The Chamber of Yorba Linda, representing hundreds of businesses and working families in the region, voiced significant concerns over the potential economic impact of these regulations, including increased operational costs, job losses, and heightened financial burdens for small business owners.
Since February the Yorba Linda City Council has been tracking this issue and has provided updates to keep the community informed about these regulations. The City Council took action to oppose the proposed changes, submitting an official letter to the AQMD Governing Board urging them not to proceed with the rules. Instead, the city is calling for a comprehensive fact-finding process that gathers public input and addresses concerns related to cost, timing, available technology, and potential incentives. We thank the entire Yorba Linda City Council for their instrumental role in formally opposing the proposed regulations. Their swift and decisive action in standing up for the economic interests of our community has made a significant impact in protecting local businesses from the harmful effects these rules could have imposed.
The Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce also recognizes the importance of environmental protection, and while these proposed rules were excessive, the Chamber remains committed to working with AQMD and other regulatory agencies to find common-sense solutions that protect the environment while supporting business growth and job creation. "We look forward to continued collaboration with AQMD and other partners to ensure that regulations are both effective and equitable," added Alex Berrios-Hernandez, Deputy Executive Director.
